CAROTID INTIMA MEDIA THICKNESS TESTING (CIMT)

CAROTID ARTERIES ARE A "WINDOW" TO THE CORONARY ARTERIES

Our Registered Vascular Technologists received their CIMT training at the University of Wisconsin School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, under the direction of Dr. James Stein, MD, FASE, and associates.

WE ARE THE ONLY LABORATORY IN CENTRAL OHIO OFFERING THIS TESTING.

THIS STUDY IS INDICATED FOR PATIENTS WITH A FAMILY HISTORY OF HEART DISEASE, MEN over 55 YEARS OLD, AND WOMEN LESS THAN 65 YEARS OLD.

Measurement of the carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) with B- mode imaging is a noninvasive, sensitive, and reproducible technique for identifying subclinical vascular disease and for evaluating CVD risk. CIMT values that are greater than the 75th percentile for the patient's age and race are considered indicative of increased CVD risk.

Cardiovascular Ultrasound Services, inc., has been providing high quality ultrasound services to Central Ohio physicians and their patients for twenty years, and have been an accredited Vascular Laboratory by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories since 1989.
